Lava tubes on the moon are really important— they are plentiful and huge. Human settlements need radiation shielding and why build on the surface when you can just inflate a habitat underground? Cavemen on the moon!
With their huge size, we can inflate big arenas for televised sports (moonball, anyone?) which will play a foundational role in the development of the moon’s economy. After all, nearly everyone on earth would want to watch… & you can’t scale moon tourism like that. Concrete prediction: Moon sports will be a 10 billion dollar industry within a decade.
