Because Europeans would take decades to write regulations for their own Google, and it wouldn't work because of the sheer number of prohibitions they already have.
Also a lot of stingy investors there, and too much hedonism.

Even after a long three years, it's still important content; open source will never go out of style. In fact, nothing about technology will ever cease to be important, even if it's from its early days.
