It’s pretty clear that if this goes to trial bamboo will lose in court. And in some ways the loss occurs simply by allowing it to go to trial. They’ve already gone from the standard for 3d printing to something of a pariah.
The AGPL specifically protects the thing he’s trying to do (fork the software to prevent vendor lock of the device through software) and prevents Bamboo from stopping him.

They have already lost in the court of public opinion and the open source community. An apology and a commitment to work together would save them a lot of headache.
