If the white southerners who wrote these words could see the state of the United States today; and in particular see the number of poor black people in urban areas who have been living in multi-generational welfare dependence since the Great Society policies of the 1960s; and see the amount of murder and other violent crime and disorder committed in the de-facto-segregated parts of cities where these black people live (that we today have many euphemisms for) - I suspect that they would have considered their prediction about "Negro drifters" to have come true.
